Location: Grand Island, NE
Employment Type: Full Time
Hours: This position is Monday-Friday, with some Saturdays as needed. 40 hour work week depending on season and other factors.
Starting Wage: Based on Experience
Key Responsibilities
- Make general mechanical repairs to engines, brakes, tires, and truck bodies.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance service.
- Understand DOT regulations and keep trucks running in accordance with those specifications.
- Have a positive attitude and be open to learning about various types of equipment from a master mechanic.
Skills
- Vehicle Knowledge: Basic understanding of truck components to effectively complete repairs.
- Team Work: Ability to interact courteously and professionally with team.
- Safety Mindset: A strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
Qualifications
- Proven proficiency in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, electrical, and air brake systems.
- Must possess a personal set of hand tools required for diesel mechanic work.
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations for commercial vehicles.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects (up to 75 lbs), bending, stooping,and standing for extended periods.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or higher is strongly preferred, or the ability to obtain one.
- ASE certifications in heavy-duty truck repair are highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Vocational or technical degree in Diesel Technology is a plus.
Education and Experience
- Education: No specific educational requirements.
- The qualified candidate should have diesel repair experience of at least two years.

Schedule
